Min orders SOP for Dhurwa fish mkt operation

Ranchi: Agriculture minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection of the Hygienic Fish Market and Fish Feed Mill in Dhurwa and was miffed after finding several lacunae. She directed officials to take corrective steps in 10 days.She ordered preparation of a clear standard operating procedure (SOP) to make the operation more transparent and organised. Emphasis was laid on ensuring transparency in rental agreements, fixing rent and facilities provided to shopkeepers.“It is state govt’s priority to develop modern and well-organised fish markets of this kind in every district, so that both fish farmers and consumers can directly benefit,” she said, directing officials to establish training centres for fish farming in every district. Around six metric tonnes of fish are supplied to the market daily, sourced from major reservoirs and distributed to various markets from here.She also interacted with farmers at the fisheries training centre nearby. Farmers told her that demand for fish feed is likely to increase in 15-30 days. She asked the fisheries directorate to assess demand from all districts and submit a report for necessary action.
